Brit Axton is a determined 17-year-old who will not take no for an answer. She’s a tenacious amateur news reporter and sleuth, who lives in a Phoenix suburb with her father, and sister, Angie. Brit and Angie lost their mother to disease a few years earlier, and try to encourage their father, who’s still struggling with their loss. Dad is a ghostwriter, and is always careful to protect the identities of his mysterious list of clients, who can sometimes be quite helpful to Brit.
Brit’s best friend is Hannah, whom she calls her favorite palindrome. Hannah has had a few challenges in her family recently as well, and has been acting out. Her parents are separated, and Hannah doesn’t want to talk about it.
Brit’s grandparents live close by, and both are quirky, in their own way. Grandma seems to be the keeper of the family history, while Grandpa is a colorful joker, and man of the land.
